
I am a native of England, emigrated to Virginia via Ontario, Canada, with parents in 1956. Father was a thoroughbred horse trainer in Middleburg, Virginia, and Ocala, Florida. Attended public schools and colleges in Virginia and North Carolina, served in U.S. Air Force as conscript in Arizona for four years, drafted during Vietnam era, then staff writer at The Arizona Republic, worked for two Arizona congressmen on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., for President Ronald Reagan on his transition team and during his first year as president, then was national and investigative reporter for The Washington Times for two decades, nominated four times by The Washington Times for a Pulitzer Prize in investigative journalism in 1985, 1986, 1992, 1996. Forthcoming book, "Journalism is War: Power Politics, Sexual Dalliance, and Corruption in the Nation's Capital," is stories behind the stories and an anecdotal memoir to be published in 2008.
