LISTENING TO THE HUSTINGS
This came across the transom from a very dear friend of many years, a retired federal executive now living with his dear wife in cold Wyoming near Jackson Hole:
"George, there is not a single Democrat who doesn't want to give in to the terrorists. At least, that seems to be the bottom line in what they are saying, and the one saying it the loudest is Barack Obama. I am sure that the Al Quaida organization is more aware of this than anyone. What fools we are.
"I have to say though, that one of the biggest jerks in the quest for the presidency is John McCain. He could not lead a flock of lambs. I think this guy is mish-mash. It is no wonder he got shot down in Vietnam. I believe he got his pilot wings because of his dad and the only type he was capable of was level flight. He could not fly well enough to take evasive action when a SAM came up at him, so all he proved was that he could take a million-dollar plane in the air and have it shot out from under him. I really believe that this guy was a pansy.
"I also believe that the North Vietnamese were easy on him. I know I sound prejudiced when I talk about this guy. It is because I am.
"Hang in there, old boy. When is your man going to declare himself, or is he?"
That last question regards retired Army General Jerry Ralph Curry, who has gathered an impressive large group of supporters nationally for a run for the presidency on the Republican line. He's being recruited to run because everyone who knows Jerry Curry sees that he should be president of the United States, more so than anyone else running.
It's an uphill battle for name recognition even for a proven general in charge who faced down the North Koreans, the North Vietnamese, the Chinese, the Russians, ran missile bases, you name it, a general in charge to be sure over many years who was Pentagon spokesman for President Ronald Reagan's defense secretary Caspar Weinberger, and one of the nicest, most articulate, surest men you could ever meet, a true Reaganite, a lovely man in all respects, and his lovely first lady, Charlene Curry.
I believe this presidential election cycle is going to be quite different. Hillary Clinton versus Barack Obama on the Democratic side, Michael Huckaby surging against Mitt Romney, Rudy Giuliani, and all others on the Republican side, while former House Speaker Newt Gingrich keeps his powder dry whether he's going to jump in.
And then there's General Jerry Curry.
Watch that space.
He's a real keeper, a true Reaganite, and he's going to make a huge impact on the presidential race when he jumps in.
In the television debates, he'd knock their socks off.
This is a proven international military leader in charge, while most others in the race are political poseurs.
Watch General Jerry Ralph Curry. The American people are waiting for such a candidate, a true patriot, honest to a tee, a proven leader, always a man in charge, a treat in every respect. The country is thirsty for such a leader. Jerry Curry is such a man. America will see this as soon as he makes his presidential advance.
That's what people in the hustings also tell me. They are frustrated with the huge crowd of politicians already out there. They want someone of true substance, a proven leader independent of all the usual political tags and committees.
Don't count on Iowa and New Hampshire where the first political duke-outs take place. Michael Huckaby is surging on the Republican side, a good leader, a good former governor of Arkansas who cleaned up the Clinton mess.
But watch South Carolina and elsewhere. Listen to the hustings. I predict that we are in for some huge political surprises in the unfolding presidential election cycle.
